A full account of the conditions surrounding the formation of the Order will be forthcoming and visitors who are interested are invited to return to this page in the near future. Those interested in the history of the OTO lineage prior to this will find ample information on the internet, and some links are provided in the appropriate section of this website. In the meantime it is sufficient simply to say that the Order was founded as a response to what was considered unacceptable behaviour on the part of the leadership of another OTO recension. To quote from our old Minerval Handbook:
"Because of certain arrangements made between a former head of the OTO and a former head of the Fraternitas Saturni, involving the absorption of the one organization's teachings into the other, it was the Master Scorpio's perogative as an 18° of the FS to reactivate a lineage of OTO - effectively a re-emergence of an earlier OTO from the shelter of a sympathetic organization."
Of course, this raises the issue of historical legitimacy, one that occurs so frequently in the discussion of closed initiatory societies. In order to address our own position we are therefore including a transcript of the lecture, composed by our membership, that was originally delivered to the first International Thelemic Conference in Milan.
