The Book of the Law, ch.2, vs.36
The EGC as referred to above is the 'Church' to the Order's 'State'. It is a body for the religious expression of Thelemic principles. Its theism is Gnostic and it honours, rather than worships, the actual forces of life (as opposed to hypothetical gods). Local deities may also be honoured depending on the place of worship.
Historically, Crowley's Liber XV has been the central ritual of all manifestations of EGC. However, in recent years EGC under the OTO Foundation has developed new rituals whose content is more relevant to the experiences of contemporary society. Key rituals remain Eucharistic, after the manner of Liber XV, whilst others are purely celebratory in nature.
It is not necessary to be a member of the OTOF in order to be baptised into its associated EGC, nor (unlike the EGC as manifest under other OTO bodies) is it necessary to be a member of the Order if one wishes to assume the junior offices of EGC.
EGC events are open to the public by invitation and are an excellent introduction to the spirit of Thelema for those who wish to learn more about it.
